Book Club

Overview

Wish Upon a Book's Book Club project project will serve students at predominantly low-income high schools by providing a group of students with a popular book to read outside of the classroom and discuss with young professionals in a casual 'book club' setting.

The Classrooms

A pilot of sophomore high school students at one high school will be paired with a young professional book club.

How It Works

1. The high school teacher selects students to be part of the extracurricular Wish Upon a Book Book Club.

2. Wish Upon a Book assigns an existing book club of young professionals to the high school Book Club. Wish Upon a Book works with the young professional book club to obtain and send books to the high school club.

3. The student Book Club meets with the young professional book club at a site near the high school one weekend or evening for a discussion of the book and informal mentoring.

4. An option exists for the book clubs to keep the project going and read another book together!
